Glean is a young brand introduced by the seven-decades-long established parent company as an adaptation of the beliefs into the avant-garde practice.
Glean is not only a plastic business but a business of cultural continuity, and a business of people. Adhering closely to the beliefs passed down from generation to generation is the company’s ultimate practice. Being a company with long history, the long term relationship built is highly appreciated. People are deemed to be the greatest assets throughout the journey – the long term partners and clients along with the employees (some of whom have over 40 years of experience with the company).

The company is upholding the three pillars of corporate sustainability, being the economic pillar, societal pillar in conjunction with the environmental pillar amidst the practice of the newly established brand – Glean.

FOCUS ON THE LEAST FOCUSED

Glean, having the meaning in words of “picking up
after the reapers” or “to stripe of the leavings of 
reapers” as defifined in Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

The meaning of the word is mirroring the calling of the brand to fulfill the often neglected works at the end of plastic manufacturing chain – after the plastic disposal, which is least apprehended but having a significant impact on environmental sustainability.

The introductory house brand serves a noble purpose as to continue the founder spirit in influencing new generations through finding solution in plastic making and to complete the sustainability pillar.

Is plastic bad?

No, plastic itself is not the elemental problem, but human behavior is. Irresponsible plastic littering is the underlying issue when it comes to plastic pollution, in fact it contributes to the main pollution factor.

Plastic pollution and reducing plastic wastage is a common topic recent years. Yet, common public have no clue how they can be a part of all these “Green Movements”.

Elimination of plastic usage is almost impossible with the fact that it being the most cost effective, easily accessed and flexible in application.

Hence, we are eager to provide a solution that encourage responsible consumption of plastics.

SOLUTION TO PLASTIC POLLUTION

Responsible consumption of plastics products is now made possible with our new plastics invention. The innovation is a controlled-life plastic, where a plastic is made biodegradable within a controlled timeframe.

By employing the biodegradable d2w technology, it accelerates natural degradation by breaking the polymer chain, through oxidation and biodegradation, until the product is no longer a plastic. Turning into a material which can be bio-assimilated by micro-organisms on land or water.

Oxo-biodegradable additives are incorporated into the plastic product during manufacturing stage. This new plastic technology chemically changes the plastic at the end of its useful life to the point it is no longer plastic and it enables biodegradation by natural mechanisms to take place.

Eventually, the plastic will biodegrade into carbon dioxide, water and biomass that will go back into the nature, thus leaves no harmful residue to the environment.

THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY:

SHIFTING FROM DISPOSING TO RECOVERY

Glean embraces the circular economy by adopting closed loop system, with the goal of eliminating waste entirely through reusing and recycling resources. The attention of strategy is shifting from disposing waste to recovery and reproduce, making the recyclable waste into greater potential. This continuous cycle aims at keeping the resources in the economy longer and diverting valuable materials from landfills.

The meaning in the brand name, Glean, aims to bring people’s attention on this plastic disposal stage, and promote the circular economy through education.
